The BDÜ - The Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators
Suzanne Eisenmann has been a member of the BDÜ since 1991, as a translator of English with a university degree from London.
Georg Eisenmann has been a member of the BDÜ since 2011, as a state-certified and sworn translator of English at the Regional Court of Karlsruhe.
The BDÜ is the largest association of translators in Germany (it has over 7,000 members) by a wide margin, and is also one of the largest in the world. The American ATA (American Translators Association) is larger, with 10,000 linguists.
Organisation of the BDÜ is split into state associations, and membership offers a diverse range of benefits alongside seminars for translators. The BDÜ convention is held bi-annually in Berlin and offers graduates of translation a platform from which to begin building a career.
